You (may) have questions. We’ve got answers.
Where are Jupiter products made?
All of our products are formulated and bottled in the U.S.A.
Are Jupiter products paraben free, sulfate free, and phthalate free? Why is that important?
Yes, all Jupiter products are paraben free, sulfate free, and phthalate free. We made sure our products are made from only the best ingredients. With that in mind, we left out synthetic preservatives (parabens), harsh sulfates that can make a scalp dry and itchy, and agents used to bind chemicals and/or stabilize synthetic fragrances (phthalates) to ensure Jupiter products offer a clean solution.
Are Jupiter products safe for color-treated or chemically-treated hair?
Yes, all Jupiter products are safe for color-treated and chemically-treated hair. Because we leave out the harsh chemicals, you can protect your color and chemical treatments (i.e. keratin).
Do Jupiter products contain silicone?
Yes, we use certain silicones in our products to ensure your hair is moisturized and silky soft. We only use high-quality, specially selected silicones.
Can I see an ingredients list?
Absolutely. We think you deserve to know what you’re putting on your scalp. All ingredients can be found on the individual product pages. If you have any ingredient specific questions that aren’t answered on the ingredient list just shoot our team an email at email@example.com.
Is your packaging recyclable?
Yes — our plastic bottles are all recyclable, although not made from recycled materials (yet). And, our shipping boxes can be recycled too. Sustainability is important to us — we’re planning on switching over to more eco-friendly solutions by 2021.
Can I try a sample of the product?
Absolutely. Visit trial.hellojupiter.com to get your free sample of our Balancing Shampoo, Nourishing Conditioner, Restoring Serum, and Soothing Elixir. Note that we limit free samples to one per person, and reserve the right to deny free samples to potential abusers of what we think is a pretty neat program.
What does it mean that Jupiter products are "clean"?
We strive to formulate our products with only naturally-derived, or safe synthetic ingredients. It’s important to us that we do not use any toxic ingredients so that Jupiter products are safe for all hair and skin types. To us, “clean” means that our products are formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and many other ingredients considered unsafe by the EWG.
What does it mean that Jupiter uses an ‘active ingredient?’
An active ingredient is a studied ingredient that solves a specific problem. To effectively treat dandruff (and this is really important!) it is required that a dandruff shampoo contain an active ingredient specifically targeting flakes and itching. We use the active ingredient Zinc Pyrthione in our Balancing Shampoo and Restoring Serum to treat the underlying cause of dandruff.
What is Zinc Pyrithione?
Zinc Pyrithione is a powerful treatment for the underlying cause of dandruff. It is safe and effective. Jupiter’s Balancing Shampoo and Restoring Serum are both formulated with Zinc Pyrithione to get at the root of what’s causing dandruff and bring you back to true scalp nirvana.
Where should I store Jupiter products?
All Jupiter products can be stored at room temperature in the shower or in your bathroom.
Is Jupiter safe for kids?
Yes, Jupiter is safe for kids. For children under the age of two, please consult a physician before use.
Does Jupiter work on coarse, kinky, or curly hair?
Yes, our products safely treat dandruff for all hair types.
Can I use other non-medicated hair care products in addition to Jupiter? Will it have any impact on the efficacy of the Balancing Shampoo?
Yes, you can use other non-medicated products along with your Jupiter products. That said, the efficacy or impact of our products may be compromised given how common it is for other companies to include harsh, irritating, or flake-causing ingredients. For that reason, we think you’ll be happiest (and flake free) using Jupiter products in their intended sets.
Why isn’t the Balancing Shampoo lathering as much as the drug store brands I’m used to?
It’s by design — don’t worry, it’s working. We intentionally leave out harsh foaming and thickening agents that cause dryness, itchiness, and strip your scalp of its natural oils. For some people with harder water, that may mean less foam than you’re used to. If you fancy the lather, using a touch more shampoo or re-applying for a second wash should do the trick. Whatever you do, don’t scrub harder.
What side effects might I notice from using Jupiter?
You might notice staring, winking, and more high-fives than usual. Attractiveness is a common side effect of a healthy scalp and head of hair.
Is Jupiter safe for use if I’m pregnant?
We recommend consulting with your physician before using any product while you are pregnant. We strive to formulate our products with only naturally-derived or safe synthetic ingredients, but it’s best to review with your doctor. Let us know if we can provide any additional information on ingredients.
What conditions does Jupiter treat?
Jupiter’s Balancing Shampoo and Restoring Serum are scientifically formulated to treat dandruff, and the flaking and itching that comes with it. Our Zinc Pyrithione based shampoo and serum decrease dandruff on the scalp. The good news is that all of our products are safe for everyday use and will keep your scalp feeling good and hair looking healthy.
Do Jupiter products treat psoriasis?
Jupiter's Balancing Shampoo and Restoring Serum are specifically formulated to treat dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis. While psoriasis may lead to flaking on your scalp, dandruff and psoriasis have different root causes and Jupiter products are not formulated to treat psoriasis. If you do notice flaking, a good first step is to try our Balancing Shampoo. If that doesn't help, it's best to see a dermatologist to determine the underlying cause of your flaking.

Scalp Care 101
I’ve treated my dandruff in the past with a 2-in-1 drug-store dandruff shampoo (you know the one); can I easily switch to Jupiter?
We don’t make a 2-in-1 and here’s why: shampoo and conditioner serve two different purposes. Especially for dandruff care and overall scalp health, it’s important to both shampoo (cleanse your scalp) and condition (soothe your scalp) with dedicated products.
The transition is easy, and we think you’ll be wowed with the results. Here’s what to expect in the transition:
— A little more time in the shower. Think of it as just an extra minute or two of “me-time.” Shampoo first, rinse, then condition and rinse.
— Commitment is key. Establish a routine that works and keep it steady. Your scalp can be a little type A so keep your routine consistent.
— Watch the magic happen. Our active ingredient, Zinc Pyrithione, safely reduces dandruff from the scalp. It is effective, but can take up to 1-2 weeks to work its magic as your body and PH levels adjust.
I’m not seeing dandruff anymore (yay!), should I stop using the shampoo?
Congrats, friend. We’re happy to hear Jupiter is working its magic. Commitment is key to maintaining a healthy scalp. Establish a routine that works and keep it steady to remain flake free.
What happens if my dandruff is getting worse?
If your dandruff gets worse or you don’t see any improvement after two weeks of consistent use, we recommend consulting a physician. Also keep in mind that diet, exercise, and your environment (things like air pollution and humidity) play a factor too. Reach out to us — we’d love to chat through how you can change up your routine to curb your flakes. We’re around to help.
I have a skin allergy. How can I be sure Jupiter products are safe for me?
We use the best available ingredients for your scalp and hair, however not all products are perfect for every skin type. Jupiter cannot be held responsible for individual reactions or irritations from a product. We strongly recommend that you read the ingredients list available on our website and on each individual product before use to ensure the ingredients are safe for you. If you have questions on any product or its ingredients please email us at email@example.com. We recommend consulting your doctor before using our products if you have any major concerns.
If in the rare instance you suffer an allergic reaction to a product, please discontinue use immediately and reach out to us. A refund will be provided at the discretion of Jupiter.
What exactly is dandruff?
